Game Designer – Join the DragonKill Team

DragonKill is a 2D retro MMO metaverse that merges Web2 and Web3. As Game Designer, you’ll lead the creation of gameplay systems, world structure, and combat loops that define how players experience Gaia.

🎮 Role Summary

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on designing tactical combat systems, player progression, and cooperative mechanics. You’ll work closely with the developers, artists, and other designers to make sure every gameplay element fits the vision.

🧪 Responsibilities

  • Design combat systems, raids, PvP, and player progression for solo, group, and raid formats (6/12/24/48 players).
  • Create systems for tactician energy usage, structure upkeep and decay, outpost control, and player-driven economies.
  • Document gameplay mechanics for developers using clear charts, mockups, or breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with other team members to align gameplay with lore and the metaverse structure.
  • Balance characters, classes, and encounters for long-term replayability and fairness.
  • Iterate based on playtesting and community feedback via Discord and dev builds.

🎯 Expectations

  • You can think strategically and design gameplay that scales and evolves over time.
  • You are able to work within constraints of Unity 2D and Mirror networking.
  • You’re open to feedback and want to collaborate on creative systems.
  • You participate in weekly check-ins via Discord to stay aligned with the team.

🧠 Ideal Experience

  • Game design experience (indie, hobbyist, or professional).
  • Knowledge of MMORPGs, tactical RPGs, or tabletop systems.
  • Understanding of balance, progression systems, and encounter design.
  • Bonus: familiarity with Unity, Mirror, or writing design docs.

🏆 What You’ll Gain

  • Portfolio-level contribution to a large-scale, public-facing MMO project.
  • A leadership role in gameplay design with real design ownership.
  • Future token allocation, credits, or potential rev share if DragonKill succeeds.
  • Street cred and exposure in a real open-world development cycle.
